Illegal puppy mills are also active in the Netherlands, and the problem is much bigger than people realize.
Animal Welfare Organization House of Animals is doing everything in its power to put an end to the illegal dog trade. The Puppy Mill Hotline is the next step in that fight.
Do you know someone who regularly offers puppies for sale, and do you suspect something might be fishy? Or have you purchased a puppy yourself and think it might have come from an illegal puppy trade?
The more information we have, the more research House of Animals can conduct and the more pressure can be put on those responsible (puppy mill operators themselves and the organizations that facilitate them, such as Marktplaats.nl) and regulatory authorities (NVWA). That is the primary purpose of the “Meldpunt Broodfok” hotline: to serve as a collection point for information that leads to the creation of comprehensive case files.
In addition, House of Animals has an extensive investigative and legal team at its disposal. Based on the information provided and their investigations, they take action. In the event of a violation of the law, for example, the legal team will immediately initiate proceedings to file an enforcement request with the NVWA.
